December 7th 1941, Pearl Harbor was the start of World War II for the United States. Mal Middlesworth was an active Marine stationed on the U.S.S. San Francisco, which was moored to a pier in Pearl Harbor. On March 14th, at the Upland Masonic Center, Lodge, Eastern Star, DeMolay, Rainbow members and their families and friends were blessed with a wonderful historical presentation on Pearl Harbor and the Pacific Theater by Mr. Mal Middlesworth. Brother James Stocks received his Golden Veteran (50 yr) Award at Riverside Lodge on Feb. 7,2013 . His wife, Rosie had the honor of pinning him. Inspector, John Channon , officiated the ceremony with W.M. Steve Morrison and Wor. Lee Cleveland assisting. The new, long-form, ceremony was used for the program which was very appreciated by the recipient, his wife , and the brethren and families present. Lewrana and I flew to San Francisco on Wednesday, September 19th to prepare for this year’s Annual Communications. San Francisco greeted us with lovely blue skies and 70 degree weather, which was a welcome change from the 90 degree weather we had in Riverside. We enjoyed a delightful Italian dinner that evening with the other Assistant Grand Lecturers and their wives. On Thursday we met with the Grand Lodge officers and their wives for a review of the weekend’s activities, which was followed by a ritual practice for the Grand Lodge officers. On Tuesday, September 11th, Brother Tony Martin was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in Hemet Lodge #615. Lodge was opened and the First Section conferred by Worshipful Anthony McLean and his corps of officers from Temecula Catalina Island Lodge #524. Members of the Division VIII Degree Team conferred the second section of the degree and Worshipful Frank Postmus, PM, delivered the lecture. My Brothers, There is a portion in our Obligation that goes, “…I will always hele, forever conceal and never reveal, any of the secret arts, parts or points". We have all said it. “There is a tide in the affairs of men” The Operation Literacy committee presented this year’s Division 8 program, for the Grand Master’s project, “Raising A Reader” on Wednesday June 20, 2012 at the San Bernardino Scottish Rite Center. The Grand Lecturer, the Very Worshipful Jack M. Rose, conducted the Division’s Master Mason’s class on Saturday, July 14th at Evergreen Lodge in Riverside. At least 60 Mason’s were in attendance for the exemplification of the 3rd Degree. The degree was presented in an exemplary manner by members from Temecula-Catalina Island Lodge, presenting the 1st section of the degree, and the Division 8 Degree Team executing the 2nd section. The Master , Wardens and Senior Deacon of Palm Springs Lodge 693 received and passed on the "Traveling Gavel" at the Master/Wardens Retreat in Newport Beach March 25, 2012. R.W. Bull passing the Gavel to Luther Wood, WM Palm Springs Lodge #693, to the SD, Imanuel Eisendle, and on to SW Ted Parker and the JW David Pucksoontorn. There is a book that travels with the gavel which photos are enter into it as the gravel travels the United States and other countries. He also received greetings from his Uncle Sam and was enrolled in Basic Training in the Army. After Basic Training he was trained to be Solider in the 82nd Airborne, Tank Battalions and in the Corp of Engineers. Then the Army liked him so well they sent him home and told him to get a college education. So he enrolled in the University of Texas at El Paseo. The military liked the good grades he was maintaining so well, they invited him to flight school in 1949. After…
