Youth Game Night at Evergreen lodge

Christmas in July at Evergreen Lodge 259

I would like to thank all of those Brothers and Sisters that came out to Evergreen Lodge this past Saturday. Through your generous support and hard work, Evergreen had one of the most successful events to happen in a very long time. We were able to collect 22 pints of blood. This is double the amount from our last Blood Drive two years ago. And as of yesterday, there have been 1,143 toys donated, totaling and estimated $7,200 – and more donations are still coming in.

There is something beyond all of these wonderful accomplishments that also transpired this weekend.  There were so many Brothers and Sisters in attendance that an accurate head count would be impossible  The parking lot was full. The foyer was full. There was standing-room-only in the dining hall. There was interest and support from the community. The mayor and congressman paid a visit.  A car club stopped by, donated toys, then stayed to show off their rides and draw a crowd. There was a genuine buzz in the air. People were excited, smiling, and having a good time. I am often asked what Freemasonry is all about, and sometimes that can be hard to put into words. Ladies and Gentlemen, Saturday was a shining example of what Freemasonry is all about: coming together in support and for the benefit of the greater good. This is a good time to be a Mason.

I'll add to this  . . .   that the toys will be delivered  to  the  Shrine Hospital in Los Angeles this week by the  Ladies of the Oriental Shrine assisted by the Jobs Daughters .

Seven Inland Empire Jobs Daughters Bethels converged on Evergreen Lodge on Saturday, Sept. 14  for a Grand Guardian visit. A county fair theme organized by the girls entertained the Grand Guardian and  Assoc. Grand Guardian. The girls opened with one Honored Queen, escorts by another, and closing ceremony by another. The visitation was followed with an assortment of food prepared , mostly on sticks,  like a fair.

Southern California Jurisdiction DeMolay (SCJ), held their annual Conclave at the Riverside Marriott hotel. The Heroes of Sparta brought their spirit and enthusiasm to the entire hotel and to the Riverside Municipal Auditorium, where many events were held this year, due to the Convention Center undergoing a major remodeling.

The Consulting Oracle kicked off Conclave on Friday at 8p.m. Activities lasted long into the night, such as “Gods Never Sleep” that was board games, Karaoke and movies, which went from midnight to six a.m.  A few Grand Lodge officers were seen partaking in the festivities with the younger Gods. The Grand Master’s Membership Class was initiated on Saturday morning, followed by additional Spartan training, and a gathering of the Goddesses, so as to not leave out the Princesses, Sweethearts and other attendees. The afternoon continued with Spartan games, which included inflatable games and a Fair. The activities again lasted, for the stronger of the Gods, until 6 a.m.

Their packed schedule again began at 8am on Sunday morning. Conclave ended with the VIP reception, banquet and Installation, attended by the Grand Master, MW Frank Loui and his wife Jeanie, 3 Past Grand Masters with their wives and many other Grand Lodge officers and their wives. The SCJ new League officers, that were installed for 2012-2013 are Christopher Baker, Master Councilor, Kevin Gonzales, Deputy Master Councilor and Calab Nelson, Congress Secretary. Chris has chosen a “Star Wars” theme for the coming year. “May the force be with you” until we see you at the next DeMolay event.

On Saturday, September 1, 2012, Green Valley Assembly #220 held a reception for their Grand Officer, Nicole Patterson, Member of the Grand Executive Committee, California Flag Bearer, and Representative to Italy and Michigan. The podium in the east was beautifully decorated with a cascading rainbow of tulle, with a large golden image of the State of California resting on the rainbow.  The large audience included not only many present and past Rainbow Grand Officers, Rainbow Girls from other Assemblies, many past and present Mother Advisor’s and board members from other Assemblies, and two Assistant Grand Lecturer’s from the Grand Lodge of California. The honored member entered and was escorted through an arch of honor from the members of her assembly. The Rainbow and Christian flag were presented, along with the California flag, the Italy flag and the Michigan flag that also had tributes given to them. Presentations included a lot of laughter and Nicole received an exquisite quilt rack that was made by her grandfather in Texas, and a beautiful quilt which had quilt squares from the grand officers, members of her assembly and advisory board. Congratulations are also in order to Fellowship Lodge #668, for the obvious care they have taken in the maintenance of their Lodge. The outside of the building has recently received a new coat of paint, the square and compass are gleaming in the afternoon sun with its gold background and the parking lot was resurfaced and new parking lines painted. The building made a very impressive statement. Great job Green Valley Assembly!  Your pride for your Assembly and your Grand Officer shined brighter than the afternoon desert sun.
