Temescal Palms Lodge Hosts Breakfast On July 4th

July 13, 2012

Celebrating our countries birthday started early in the day, with breakfast at Temescal Palms Lodge #314, in Corona. Many families enjoyed the large breakfast that included scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, gravy and pancakes, which was cooked by many of the younger members of the Lodge.

The Jr. Warden, Mike Padilla, provided his truck to pull this year’s float for the Corona parade. The Master, Robert Burger and the Corona Job’s Daughters Bethel, were among those that braved the morning sun to ride in the parade down Ontario Avenue. The Bethel also helped the Lodge man their child I.D. booth at the park, after the parade. They had a great turn out, which even included a Majority Jobs Daughter and Rainbow Girl, who was visiting from New Mexico.

Grand Bethel 2012 – Drums, Dragon & Rickshaw

July 4, 2012

On Thursday, June 21st, members of the Grand Lodge Family, including the Grand Master Frank Loui and his wife Jeanie, gathered for the opening sessions of California Grand Bethel, for Job’s Daughters, at the Visalia Convention Center.  The Daughters in attendance were very exuberant even before the session began with cheers and one side of the room challenging the other with “Who’s Got Sprit?” Judy Hooper even encouraged the Grand Lodge Officers and their wives to stand up and show their sides spirit.

After many escorts and introductions the Grand Master of Masons in California, Most Worshipful Frank Loui was presented for introductions. The Grand Bethel room was suddenly filled with the pounding of a dozen Chinese drums setting the stage for the Grand Master to be brought out in his own personal rickshaw.  A VERY spirited white Chinese dragon then entertained us. He danced, jumped, raised himself up and shook his tail, to the delight of all those in attendance.  The Grand Master also introduced the Grand Lodge officers and their wives.

At the end of the evening, Past Grand Master, Richard Wakefield Hooper, presided over the Miss California Job’s Daughter pageant.  The Grand Master and the Worthy Grand Matron were among the dignitaries that presided over the final question given to the three finalists. Hearing from the 16 finalists and reading their stories was very impressive. The new Miss California Job’s Daughter for 2012-13 is Jessica Anthony PHQ, from Dublin Bethel #1.

After the sessions closed for the evening, everyone was treated to chocolate ice cream. It was a welcome treat after the warm evening. The Grand Family enjoyed being able to visit with the Daughters, their adult advisors, and to support the Jobs Daughters, one of our hard working youth groups.

Friday was a full day. The morning session had all of the Honored Queens and Princess introductions, a memorial service for all those who had passed away, the drill team competition, variety show, and selection of the next Grand Bethel lineup. Most of Saturday was ritual and music competition, then out-to-eat, followed by the installation of the Grand Bethel girls, then the big dance and fun after which ran until midnight.  Many sleepy and happy girls went  to their respective homes on Sunday.

Cornerstone At Barstow Community Hospital

posted by admin
May 9, 2012

On April 4, 2012, the Barstow Boron Lodge # 682 hosted the Grand Lodge of the State of California for a Cornerstone ceremony for the new Barstow Community Hospital.  This was the culmination of two years of hard work and coordination for this auspicious event.  Grand Lodge opened at 10:00 AM and allowed the public in at 10:45, where the Grand Master and the Barstow Master provided updates on the happenings of their respective organizations.  The Barstow Boron Lodge presented the Grand Master with a gavel and sounding block made out of desert mesquite, which was hand made by Merrill Gracey, Past Master of the lodge.  The lodge also presented Jeanie Loui with a beautiful bowl made out of bass wood, which was made by the inspector of the 802nd Masonic District, George Whitmore.

A fabulous lunch followed which was prepared by the ladies of the Barstow Lodge and it did not disappoint, they did a wonderful job preparing the food as well as turning the dining room into a beautiful reception hall.  The Jobs Daughters, Bethel #341, who after participating in the March of Dimes walk early in the morning, served lunch to over 110 guests.

Everyone departed the lodge at 12:45 and proceeded to the Cornerstone site, which was held on the grounds of the new hospital.  The ceremony proceeded at 1:30 and the Grand Lodge conducted a superb ceremony, which included the reading of the time capsule contents.  Thirty-three organizations of the Barstow and surrounding communities provided 102 items to be placed in the Cornerstone time capsule, which is a true testament to the relationship between the Lodge and the community.  The Grand Orator gave a moving speech where he tied the legacy of the old hospital to the present and future of the new hospital which came to fruition by years of hard work and determination.  After the ceremony, the guests were treated to a tour of the state of the art facility and were able to see the product of over 25 years of planning and coordination.
