Sonora League does it again. Temescal Palms Lodge #314 and DeMolay Chapter hosted Sonora DeMolay League Sweethearts Ball in Corona June 30, 2012. It was an evening honoring Miss Lerina Galba-Bright of Moreno Valley Chapter – League Sweetheart and Miss Sarah Baker Moreno Valley Chapter Sweetheart. The hall was jammed to capacity with Sweethearts, Princesses and DeMolay’s from all over the Jurisdiction. The pretty young ladies of DeMolay dressed in their formals and tiaras were highlighted as they were escorted by league presidents and Master Councilors to the theme music ‘Titanic’. Our host, Worshipful Master Robert Burger was at the helm in providing music for the event.
Yucaipa Fellowship Lodge #668 with the help of the San Gorgonio and Yucaipa High Twelve Clubs tried their hand for the first time at conducting a child id booth at the Yucaipa Iris Festival on May 18-20. The clubs and the lodge mustered enough volunteer help to cover the 22 hours over the three days. In addition to the Masons, the Rainbow Girls, DeMolay, and the Eastern Star also participated. Less than 200 children were id’ed, but that did not dampen the enthusiasm of everyone involved and their hope to do it again.

On Tuesday, April 24th, the Moreno Valley Chapter of DeMolay had a “Fun Night” at the Moreno Valley Lodge. Generally on the 4th Tuesday of the month, unless there is a degree, the Chapter puts aside ritual and business for light amusement and to just have fun. Everyone present enjoyed the evening with board games, computer games and pizza. They also played lawn games in the park area behind the Lodge.
The Chapter had many members in attendance including the Master Counselor, Cody Gonzales. Also present were the Chapter Sweetheart, Sarah Elizabeth Baker, advisors Chapter Dad, Allan Solis, J.W. of Artesia Sunrise Lodge # 377, Michael Strader, Moreno Valley Lodge # 804, Ruth Blanco, Star of the Valley # 648 and Manny Blanco, W.M. of Chino Masonic Lodge # 427.

Worshipful Frank Lee & I along with hundreds of others attended the Service for Worshipful "Dad" Mike Musgrove at the Covina Christian Church. The heartfelt Eulogy was given by Worshipful Brethren Mark Sandstrom & Raymond Davies. There was a DeMolay and Masonic Service for Worshipful Mike who gave so much to our Masonic Family. Worshipful Sandstrom had mentioned that if everyone in attendance told a story about an experience they had with Dad Musgrove that we would be there for a month. He was right. There was standing room only. Three people were chosen to speak about Worshipful Musgrove. They eloquently spoke for everyone. Every word spoken by those involved in the Service came from the heart and soul. There were not many dry eyes in the building.
In his 41 years of life Dad Musgrove touched and made a difference in the lives of everyone he met. He was amazing! I listened to the stories about this man and thought of that Perfect Ashlar that we all strive to become. The difference is that this Mason was that "Perfect Ashlar." If there is such a thing as a person reaching that goal then it had to be Mike Musgrove. Words cannot even begin to tell you the effect that he had upon those he touched. His impact will be seen and passed on for generations to come. The Church was full of people who crossed paths with Dad Mike. One would have had to be there to even imagine how many people he touched with his love and affection. The 300+ people in attendance, was testimony to how Mike Musgrove lived his life.
Our condolences to the family; Dad Mike will be missed but his memory and his good works will live on forever.
