This year our Grand Master is leading an effort to support the Firefighters in Safety Education (FISE) program.  This program will bring active firefighters into our public schools to teach age-appropriate fire safety lessons to thousands of elementary aged school children every year.

Parents should never have to respond to a fire emergency involving their children, however, should it occur the FISE program will be the difference between a parent’s prayer of relief verses one of sorrow.  Fire safety education should never be delayed as it is truly a matter of life or death for our children.  Unfortunately, due to a lack of funding, fire safety instruction all too often gets lost in some educational priorities.  Through your support of the FISE program together we can raise the priority level for such education and save many children.

Through the FISE program firefighters bring burn prevention to “each child, each year” in schools throughout the State and do so in the students’ native languages. The FISE program is a 30-minute presentation taught by firefighters who volunteer to be trained and to bring lifesaving information to their communities.   FISE instructors teach our children the following seven (7) key skills:  Stop Drop & Roll, Cool-A-Burn, Crawl Low & Go, Hug A Firefighter during rescue, the value of a Smoke Detector, Toys Vs Tools and How to dial 9-1-1.
